Welcome to Module 2: Leading Self

“Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”~Victor Frankl

Module Introduction

One of the most important leadership qualities is emotional intelligence: the ability to understand and manage our own emotions and the emotions of people around us. We will explore how our lived and learned experiences and biases impact how we see and lead the world. We will learn a bit about how the human brain works and how it can sometimes short-circuit despite its highly evolved structure and share tools that help us respond more thoughtfully, resiliently, and effectively.

Learning Objectives

  1. Understand how and why the way we experience and show up in the present is influenced by our past.
  2. Learn how self-reflection can help to define your future.
  3. Identify your own barriers to learning and how you can overcome them.
  4. Gain familiarity with the brain and how to avoid emotional “short-circuits.”
  5. Learn strategies for resilience and how mindset influences your outcomes.
